Ghost River Brewing

I think this branding is successful in updating the branding of Ghost River Brewery, because it simplifies a brand to not only match current ideals, but is also not too jarring to a already committed client base. The use of color in this rebrand helps the viewer quickly identify the brand and/or flavor. Going with the idea of updating for a younger generation the lifestyle and product photography shows the beer and its consumer in everyday situations for the common 21-28 year old.

High Cotton Brewery: Identity Design Analysis

High Cotton Brewery is a local Memphis brewery that was started a little over a year ago. Within that year they have become an iconic brand in Memphis and have pulled the affection of all the residents. Not only is their packaging and branding put together seamlessly; they also have a plethora of touch points ranging from a tap room to t-shirts to growlers.

Their main brand statement: "High Cotton mean times are good. It also means beer is good" is clearly revealed in their branding. High Cotton wanted to reminisce on the days when people worked for what they had, and while their aesthetic to some may be clean it also has a sense of dirt and work put into it. This grunge is what makes High Cotton a successful brand that has clean and modern aspects, but also can bring in the nostalgia of hard work.

Main Branding:

 Touch Point 1: Tap Room:

Touch Point 2: T-shirt and Alternate Logo Design

 Touch Point 3: Growlers

Touch Point 4: Website Design

Ghost River Brewing: Competition and Stakeholder Analysis

Ghost River Brewing is a local for profit company that brews hand crafted beer using the Memphis Sands Aquifer. Established in 2008, Ghost River Brewing was the first microbrewery to open in the 901 area code, and for a long time the only one. Still a small company to this day Ghost River Brewing wants to expand more into their local market that has been taken over by the influx of new microbreweries.

Competitors:

High Cotton Brewing Company

Memphis Made Brewing Company

Wiseacre Brewing Co.

Stakeholders:

Employees: Being a small company the employees are very important to the owners, even though they are trying to be more automated, Ghost River does not want to fire any of its employees. They are the essence of the brand and many of them have been there since day one.

Consumer: Since Ghost River Brewing is a local company and wants to play this up as mutes possible its local consumer is very important to it. Their interests must always be kept mind when changing anything related to Ghost River Brewing.

Bars/Restaurants: Being the people who will sell beer the most and be able to explain the type and how the beer is made, bars/restaurants are very important to the Ghost River Brewing ecosystem. They promote their local beer more than a grocery store can and have a more hands on experience with the consumer than the employees have or a grocery store would have.

Company: The company itself is a stakeholder, being already established there are some core values that will never change for them, such as the Wolf River Conservancy.

POV: Ghost River Brewing

Ghost River Brewing needs a way to update their branding and marketing strategy and reach the millennial generation. They need this because, with new competitors coming into the market, it is vital for Ghost River Brewing to stay on top of their clientele and their needs and wants. While Ghost River Brewing was the only Brewery in Memphis for a long time, the new micro breweries that have opened are threatening a long loved and solid Memphis company.

Core Values: Heather Lee

As a working designer I think of myself as organized, energetic, and current.

By organized I mean, in my work I strive to have the utmost of organization. I aim to find structure in the vast network that the 21st century is.

By energetic I mean, that my work is effective. That my work is powerful and can hold meaning not only to a consumer or viewer, but also to the client.

By current I mean, I work to stay up to date on the not only the latest work in my field and trends, but I also try to stay on top of new technological advances that are related to my field.

A current selection of my work can be found on my Behance. This work is a selection over the past two to three years and is kept up to date with my work and a copy of my resume.

With my personal branding I wanted to keep the design clean and simple. While I wish to convey a sense of energy I would rather do it with the work I showcase, and not have it overshadowed by my own branding.
